This single was released by jungle artist M-Beat featuring Jamiroquai. The liner notes state that the lyrics were written by Jason Kay, music written by M-Beat and Toby Smith, and the keyboards and drums by Toby Smith and Derrick McKenzie accordingly.
At the 1996 Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) awards held at Covent Garden's New Connaught Rooms in London on 18 November 1996, Do You Know Where You're Coming From was nominated for a prize in the Best Jungle Act category.
This single was originally released in the UK on the Renk record label (that of M-Beat). However, Sony Music also printed copies of the single.
The Renk 12" release of this single is the only format to contain the Original Extended mix of the track.
The club mix on this release is the same as the Extended mix and the Intelligent mix is the same as the Hands In The Air mix.
This record features the regular "extended version" on both sides (that which appear on several versions of the Travelling Without Moving album), with the fade out happening a couple of seconds later than on definitive releases. The main particularity of this record is that Jay's vocals are mainly audible on the right channel while the music is only to be heard on the left channel.
