The third album by Jamiroquai was released in the UK on 9 September 1996. Entering the UK album chart the same week, it's highest position was number two.

The CIN official UK year-end top 100 chart for 1996 (01 Jan - 31 Dec 1996) placed Travelling Without Moving at number 15 with sales of 640,000.

The version of the album containing both bonus tracks has a different CD back cover design.

When comparing both UK releases, the recording of High Times is slighly different on the version with both bonus tracks. If you listen carefully, this version has a sample of the words "Last Night" appearing in the background at regular intervals. The US release includes this sample which is taken from the track "Last Night Changed It All" by Joe Wheeler.

In the liner notes for the CD Jay writes "The biggest thank you goes out to you, the people who hail me out in the street & support Jamiroquai, all around the world but particularly in London, you're all a bunch of diamonds. I hope you dig this new stuff. Let's get down & boogie in '97. Thanks to all the people who adorned themselves with the Buffalo Man. I'm flattered!"

Travelling Without Moving was awarded the following British Phonographic Industry (BPI) Certified Awards - Silver (200,000 sales), Gold (400,000 sales) and Platinum (600,000) on 1 October 1996. A Double Platinum award for 1.2 million sales was awarded 1 January 1997, and Triple Platinum (1.8 million) was awarded on 1 May 1997.

Travelling Without Moving; long considered one of Jamiroquai's most popular albums and the best-selling funk album of all time celebrates it's 25th year in 2021 with this special heavy weight coloured vinyl release. Originally released in September 1996, the album features seminal hits 'Virtual Insanity' & Cosmic Girl' which helped catapult it to #2 in the UK charts and Jamiroquai into the limelight globally. This 25th anniversary edition includes an updated sleeve, new liner notes by Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay and the Dimitri From Paris Remix Radio Edit of Cosmic Girl, previously only available physically in limited numbers on Dimitri From Paris' own label.

The album was initially scheduled for release on 17 December 2021 but due to "manufacturing issues" was delayed for a month until January 2022.
