Derrick McKenzie exclusive interview

Added on Thursday 31 January 2008, 11:19 (GMT)

Following on with the series of exclusive bandmember interviews at Jamirotalk.net, they have just added a new interview with Jamiroquai drummer Derrick McKenzie.  The interview contains a great selection of questions by fans (who were asked to contribute back in 2006), of which this is just one of them...

Jamirotalk.net: What are songs that the band has never performed live, but are on your wish list to play?

Derrick: Bullet is my main track – that track is just kick ass, the groove the horns the lyrics everything is just kicking in that track!!!!!!!

The interview is online in full at Jamirotalk.net and members can discuss the interview in this thread at the Jamirotalk website.

"Jay has given a glimpse into the Jamiroquai future by hinting that the band will return to its musical beginnings with horns, strings and an overall acid jazz element."

This I was not aware of.. GREAT!

And from Derrick: "we are doing the whole of this album live so there is no machines involved at all"

YESYESYESYES!! AMAZING, sounds so good... I can't wait to hear the new tunes.. (got to keep cool and not to raise the expectations thru the roof). Does anyone know rough estimations of album/single release date(s)?

"and we are doing the whole of this album live so there is no machines involved at all, how funny that is". No need to say more. Respect.

I was going to put that question as the "example" question in the news item but thought it was too good for this site! Things sound really exciting...

"..thought it was too good for this site!" ... lol, David!!! :D
Thanks for this news item, David. I want to underline that this was the first jamirotalk interview done "live" - i asked - Derrick answered. So, his answers came kinda impulsively and not prepared beforehand like in the previous interviews with bandmembers which were done by email. :)
Thanks to all the fans who contributed questions, and big thumbs up for Derrick for keeping us fans up-to-date!! :)

Ahhhhh, I can't wait!
