"As you might already have heard, Jamiroquai have switched to Columbia Records as a result of the new label structuring at Sony BMG. It's just a business procedure and nothing to worry about because Jamiroquai will continue to produce their unique brand of funked-up grooves for many years to come."

For information, Columbia Records is a division of Sony BMG and a number of Sony BMG UK artists have recently moved to the label.

but will jamiroquai still keep on making music, after all it just sony in a differnet name, jay kay could still be treated in the same way he did at Sony BMG, he could still go, but i hope not tho.

I dunno... Is this like internal restructuring within Sony, or have new deals been made. It's not really clear. If it's just Sony switching things around, then not a whole lot has changed, has it???

Whaaaaa hoooooooo!!!

I may be wrong, but surely this is purely a re-structuring (an overused phrase at the company I work at) that means nothing, with the forthcoming cop-out Greatest Hits album being the last of the 8 album deal that still stands. Does anybody know any differently and if this actually represents the signing of a new contract?

Hm, at first i thought that this is a new contract but now i am preaty sure it's not, after i read all the comments.Well, more news have to come out soon to clear things up. The line "nothing to worry about because Jamiroquai will continue to produce their unique brand of funked-up grooves for many years to come" calms me down so i'm convinced that great stuff is ahead. By the way don't you just love the pic at the news item at Jamiroquai.com , love that smile, fun in the sun by the beach now that's what i'm talkin about :D

I can't believe anybody could even WORRY that Jamiroquai wouldn't be able to get another record label. Come on.

And I guarantee that any label out there would allow them full control over their production. Anyone trying to put a hand in the mouth of Jamiroquai would be a complete fool.

Watch out, because the first record of new material by bands who switch to a new label tends to be a whopper, especially when it's a band of this caliber.

danny T,

You got it spot on.

in a few words
that feels just like it should

gonna shoot the moon tonight!!! jamiroquai, we keep on supporting you untill the end. great news about the new deal. good luck to you from us, Galaxoogians.
