Music Week has today (Tuesday) reported that Jamiroquai will be actively promoting the Sony "Mobile Walkman" as part of the Dynamite album promotional campaign. They write:
Sony Ericsson and Jamiroquai are linking together in a marketing partnership to help launch the phone operator's first mobile Walkman - the W800i. The collaboration between the mobile group and pop outfit will see various above- and below-the-line initiatives around the marketing cycle of the current album Dynamite, including sponsorship of Jamiroquai's European tour, TV spots and guest appearances. Stefan Streit, vice president marketing Sony Ericsson Europe, Middle East and Africa, says Jamiroquai are the perfect band for the campaign leading up the W800i launch in August because Jay Kay is "amazingly adaptable and versatile". The W800i phone allows up to 120 tracks to be taken from the user's CD collection via computer software and stored on the media player. Jay Kay says, "My introduction to music on the move was through a Walkman player, its simplicity and reliability was perfect. The W800i phone follows the same principle; my favourite music on the move anytime, anywhere. But with a twist, it's my phone too - everything in one - fantastic."
