Sola, Derrick, Nick and Rob are in the new (May) issue of Rhythm
Magazine (UK). Sola is featured in the "Top Tips" section. Sola and
the others feature in a double-page spread about the recent Best Of British
Drum Clinic, where they all played. There's a photo of Derrick and Sola
playing individually, and one of them all playing as a group. The magazine
writes... "After the interval, the audience were treated to some of
Britain's finest-quality funk as the Jamiroquai band (minus Jay Kay
himself) took to the stage and played through some of their best-known numbers
including 'Space Cowboy' and 'Love Foolosophy'. Drummer
Derrick McKenzie and percussionist Sola Akingbola really laid down the
groove, and proved you don't have to hit hard to be funky. With Rob
Harris on guitar and Nick Fyffe on bass, the band stormed through their set
with foot-tapping aplomb. Very Tasty." Then later it says: "Mark
[Mondesir] then invited Rob and Nick back on-stage and the trio blasted
through The Meters' 'Cissy Strut' and Hendrix's
'Purple Haze', the latter in a funky format unlike anything the
great guitarist would have done."

Jamiroquai failed to win in either of their two nominations (Best Jungle Act and Best Music Video) in the Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) awards today in 1996. You Give Me Something was released in the UK this week in 2001.
