Happy Birthday to me! Many of you who have been regular visitors to the site will know that on 13th July 1996 this site appeared on the web. Starting as a hobby which helped me to learn HTML, I started the site just to let people on the Internet have a home for all things Jamiroquai and it just got bigger and bigger and bigger! Over the past 3 years things got really exciting when I was offered the chance to help out on the official Jamiroquai web site by Sony S2 in London. This was an opportunity not to be missed and I've did many things that I had always wished to do...met the band - hello Derrick, Toby, Nick, Darren!...saw an exclusive session for BBC Radio 1...took photos at the front of Wembley Arena...and more. This is something that every Jamiroquai fan would love to do and unbelievably it was I who was given the opportunity to get this close (without having to smuggle a camera into a concert!). This would not have happened if this web site was not as popular as it was, so ultimately I have you, the readers and the contributors of the site to thank. If it wasn't for you and the news and information you've contributed to the site over the past five years, then I wouldn't have had the chance to do all these cool things and hopefully give you all a bit more of an insight into our favourite band (you did see my reports in the 'backstage' section of the old official site?). Back to this site, over the past two or three years it hasn't changed much but I've tried to keep doing what I originally intended it to - to be one of the best news and information sites for the band. Yes, there are bigger and more exciting sites out there (for example, .co.uk and .com) but I like my little home on the web and I love doing it. As we move into a new album for Jamiroquai and (as everyone is hoping) back to their funky roots the excitement of a new album is back with force. We've heard the new single and we've seen the video ;) and can't wait for Funk Odyssey to hit the shelves in early September. Before I go on and on (and you all fall asleep) I just want to say once again a huge thank you to you, the fans who have made this site what it is. See you next year, same time, same place. David.
If you have any news you wish to submit for this site, please email me.
On This Day... 23rd November
Jamiroquai failed to win in either of their two nominations (Best Jungle Act and Best Music Video) in the Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) awards today in 1996. You Give Me Something was released in the UK this week in 2001.
