Following the news that Jay and Denise have separated, tabloid newspapers have reported that Jay seemed to be in a pretty bad way at the recent Brit Awards. Heat magazine (UK) in their Brits coverage wrote "Which pop star had to be surrounded by bouncers all night to ensure that no journalists could get close enough to discover that he was off his head on a cocktail of drugs? Could it be that these newly-hedonistic ways are the result of a broken heart after splitting with his long-term girlfriend" Chris Evans, a presenter on Virgin Radio (UK) made comments about Jay and was forced to make a public on-air apology this morning (6 March). Later in the day, the Virgin website posted the following "Chris Evans sensationally apologised to Jay Kay of Jamiroquai for comments made on last week's show. Not content with broadcasting live on Virgin Radio, he also wired up a loudspeaker so that all of Golden Square could hear it..." For those wondering, Golden Square is the place in London where the Virgin Radio studios are located.
