Latin American Tour Update

Added on Saturday 25 March 2006, 09:15 (GMT)

Jamiroquai are currently performing a number of concerts as part of a tour of Latin America.

At the first concert of the tour leg, in Agentinean on Wednesday, Jay came on wearing a poncho which was removed to reveal an Argentinian soccer shirt (later removed to show his 'regular' black outfit).  The concert had the following setlist (I believe!):

  • Canned Heat, Space Cowboy, Cosmic Girl, Revolution 1993, Little L, High Times, You Give Me Something, Dynamite, Use The Force, Black Capricorn Day, 2001, Love Foolosophy/Main Vein, Time Won't Wait, (Don't) Give Hate A Chance, Alright, Deeper Underground.
A short review of the gig is available at the La Razon website and additionally, here is a review of the gig from Agentinian journalist Agustina Sucri:

Jamiroquai shined in Buenos Aires

BUENOS AIRES; 24 march, 2006- The British band Jamiroquai managed, last Wednesday, to make 30 thousand fans turn the stadium 'Club Ciudad de Buenos Aires' into a real dance floor.

At 9:30pm, the band, led by the charismatic vocalist Jason 'Jay' Kay, came on stage and began their performance with 'Canned Heat' followed by a series of their greatest hits, both from the previous albums and from the 6th and most recent album 'Dynamite', released in June of 2005.

Sporting a black oxford pant, a very colorful 'poncho', his classic addidas and one of his flamboyant hats, Jason and each of the eight members of the band demonstrated once again to the Argentinean audience their ability to put together a flawless show.

Among the most applauded hits were 'Cosmic Girl', 'Little L', 'Love foolosophy', 'You give me something', 'Revolution', and the last track '(Don't) Give hate a chance'.

The crowd also went mad when the leader of the band interacted with the fans and thanked them for their attendance. He even showed his gratitude towards the audience by saying: "You are the best!" .

As it was expected, and despite his 14 years in the music business, Jason -36 years old- delighted the fans with his famous dance moves. Dancing to the rhythm of the acid Jazz, funk, soul and disco, the musician made his way up from one end of the stage to the other with an astonishing skill, dazzling the attending fans, who couldn’t stop jumping and dancing.

After almost a two hour performance, Jamiroquai chose to finish the show with the song 'Alright', from his successful album  'Travelling without moving', however the audience -who was still asking for more-, left the band no choice but to come back to the stage to close the show with the energetic 'Deeper underground'.

I don't have much information about Friday's concert from Sao Paulo (Brazil), although there is a video clip of the band performing Space Cowboy at the Showlivre.com website and some great photos via Jamirotalk.

If you attended this concert, feel free to post the setlist and any reviews in the comments of this news item, and don't forget to check out other Jamiroquai sites such as Jamirotalk and Jam Party People for reviews and photos from the entire tour leg.

On Saturday night Jamiroquai play in Rio de Janiero (Brazil), followed by concerts in Venezuela and Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico.

It's impossible for me to watch the video from Showlivre website. Is it normal or not?

The place was completely full ( 7.000 people) with tickets sold aout 2 weeks before the show.

Jay also came with a poncho and drove the crowd mad with the setlist:

Revlution 1993
Little L
Seven days in sunny june
High Times
Dynamite
Use The Force
Black Capricorn Day
2001
Love Foolosophy/Main Vein
Time Won't Wait
(Don't) Give Hate A Chance
Alright
Deeper Underground

The show was a huge sucess between the public and press.

After show, I went to the bacck of the stage and got the opportunity th chat to Rob and Matt and I'm amazed how nice they are.
Matt confirmed me that they're gonna innclude two new tracks in the "Greatest Hits" tha will be released in November, but joked: "It's just missing to write them down".
I saw their van leaving the place, excepting Jay that left the place in a Mercedes with some beautifil blondes with him.
