In the UK, Light Years was never officially released as a single but did appear in the shops midway through the year. The main feature of the CD is three live tracks taken from the final concert of the 1994 Space Cowboy tour, at the Paradiso in Amsterdam on 17 December 1994.
This is the US release of Light Years, and in the 17 February 1996 edition of Billboard, the following review by Larry Flick appeared:
"The time has come for this brash U.K. acid-jazz act to find a broader audience in the States. On this second single from his underappreciated album, The Return Of The Space Cowboy, Jamiroquai complements a horn-fiddled funk throwdown with savvy remixes that flirt with mainstream house and hip-hop concepts without eliminating the quirky tone of the original version. DJs are advised to pick a mix and start spinning it immediately."
This release of Light Years is packaged as part of "The Singles Box" Japanese boxset and contains a slightly different tracklist to the regular Japanese single release.
Tracks 2, 3 and 4 were recorded live at "The Paradiso" in Amsterdam in December 1994.
This 12" includes the live version of Journey to Arnhemland that was recorded from the Paradiso in Amsterdam on 17 December 1994 and the live version of Light Years that appears on the US release of the Space Cowboy album.

US-only remixes of "Light Years" by Derrick McKenzie, Rickard Berg and Roy The Roach for the "Way Gone Mix" and the "True Power Mix" whilst Phil "Philly Cheesesteak" Cassens and Todd Chapman for the "4 To Da Floor Mix". Features another cover of Jay Kay freefalling on his snowboard off a mountain peak instead of the light speed buffalo barmy. Definitely poorer remixes than the usual.
