Jay Kay helicopter update
Added on Saturday 17 June 2006, 19:30 (BST)
Flying website Loop recently wrote about Jay's helicoper lessons in a news story about the England football (soccer) team party that was held last month.  The mention of Jay was relating to the launch of a new aerial display team that has recently launched in the UK. Jamiroquai frontman and student heli pilot Jay Kay flew in to the 2Excel launch with his instructor, Kim Campion from Wycombe-based Heli Air. The star landed his brand new Robinson R44 before taking off in the front seat of Blade 3 with display pilot Myles Garland. LOOP caught up with Jay on the ground. "It was amazing, and really unusual to see three other aircraft so close. I love the Gs! "I flew a trainer jet in Oz recently and then wanted to go to Russia to fly the Su-29 so I could go up to the edge of space. Unfortunately Putin decided that foreigners aren't allowed in Russian planes. It would've been amazing if I'd got to do it." According to instructor Kim, Jay's training is progressing well and he's already completed his first few solo flights.  Jay said, "The heli training is going at a slow, steady rate. There's lots to do. It's the most demanding thing, with four different controls to think about. It's a big challenge."  The complete story and a photo of Jay can be seen at the Aero website.

I'd love to do that one day..

Jay`s always on the fight to reach the edge of space haha, he mentioned something like that on the verona dvd eh?

yess I remember when he said that in the documentary...
he relly wants to get so so so high!!!
Good Luck Mr Jay!!!

I think Pres. Putin needs to sack his aide that gave him the wrong information about 'Sir' JK. Although it is hard to disregard the terrestrial title, he is not legally deemed as a foreigner to the Russian state alone, even to Her Majesty's green and pleasant fields.

According to his interglactic credentials he is entitled to 'freedom of transit and domain' over whereever his funky little heart desires . . . so there !!!

Case closed, he's not a 'foreigner', he's the funk force of the atmosphere, and therefore entitled to a ride in Su-29 !!!

Talk about rules are rules, what a stickler !!!

Care you Jay, please.
