Sony Music's earnings in the year to 31 March fell sharply due to a shortage of big hits. The non-Japanese repertoire sales showed a 12.2 percent decline in 1996/97, despite the popularity of some of its artists, such as Jamiroquai. In Japan, Jamiroquai sold more than 1 million copies of Travelling Without Moving.
